The Bright Eyes Program

See Clearer, Learn Better, Dream Bigger

Every child deserves to See Clearer, Learn Better, and Dream Bigger. To ensure this, CBI is launching The Bright Eyes Program to bring follow-up eye care directly to Madison students through a mobile eye clinic!

Why Do we Need a Vision Van?

  • Since 2014, CBI has partnered with Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) to screen over 3,000 3K–5K students annually, but only 31% of referred students receive follow-up care.

  • Many children in need of glasses or treatment miss out, negatively impacting their education, development, and well-being.

  • The new Bright Eyes Program brings on-site vision assessments, eyeglass fittings, and referrals directly to schools, helping 12–20 students per visit improve their vision and succeed in the classroom.

Vision To Learn Partnership

After Combat Blindness International’s launch of the Bright Eyes Vision Van Program in Madison, Vision To Learn joined us as a partner, bringing their nationally recognized expertise in school-based vision care.

Vision To Learn pioneered a model that brings eye exams and glasses directly to students at school, removing barriers such as transportation, cost, language, and parental work schedules. Their mobile clinics operate in communities where children are most at risk of falling behind due to uncorrected vision problems.

CBI has closely studied and adapted this proven approach in designing the Bright Eyes Program. With Vision To Learn’s mentorship, we are building a program that delivers comprehensive eye exams, on-site glasses selection and fittings, and coordinated referrals for advanced care when needed.

Their guidance has helped ensure that the Bright Eyes Program is not only compassionate, but operationally strong, sustainable, and scalable. By learning from a model that has already helped hundreds of thousands of students nationwide, CBI is accelerating impact in Madison and laying the foundation for long-term success.

We are deeply grateful for Vision To Learn’s partnership and leadership. Their example has helped shape a program that allows children to see clearly, learn confidently, and dream bigger.

See Clearer

  • Clear vision is essential for children to understand, learn, and safely interact with the world around them.

  • Undiagnosed vision issues often go unnoticed, making everyday tasks — like reading the board or playing — a struggle.

  • The Bright Eyes Program provides screenings and glasses to ensure children can see clearly.

  • With proper eye care, children gain confidence, engage fully in their surroundings, and embrace new opportunities

Learn Better

  • Good eyesight is directly linked to academic success, enabling children to keep up with schoolwork and build confidence.

  • Untreated vision problems can cause students to fall behind, struggle with reading, and doubt their abilities.

  • With clear vision, children can fully engage in learning, reading, writing, and focusing on lessons that shape their futures.

Dream Bigger

  • Clear vision helps children learn without limitations and build the confidence to dream beyond their immediate circumstances.

  • Good eyesight allows them to imagine a future full of possibilities — from enjoying hobbies to exploring exciting career paths.

  • With the right tools and support, children can visualize their potential and aspire to achieve great things.

  • The Bright Eyes Program provides more than just clear vision — it lays the foundation for children to dream bigger and build brighter futures.
